Meet the Quartz Family

September 18th (Wednesday), 6 p.m., Jackson Senior Center – Open to Public. Presentation: Meet the Quartz Family” Presented by Rick Dalrymple.

Quartz is one of the most varied mineral species. It forms in almost all geologic environments. It has the widest range of crystal habits and is only second to the feldspar family as the most common mineral on earth (though some would say third). There are thousands of varietal names for the different shapes, forms, and colors of quartz. And all those varieties form in different geologic conditions. Chemistry, temperature, and physics all play a vital roll in what crystal shape and color form. Come meet some interesting and colorful members of the quartz family.  Video
