As a non-profit, all-volunteer organization, our mission is to inform and educate our members and community about earth science related matters – their broad scope and importance to all of us.
We are proud of our history serving the Jackson community. This past year our members have partnered with local schools and youth organizations to provide earth science presentations and field trips. With the support of the Teton County Library, we have bimonthly presentations open to the public for the past ten years.
Within the context of our mission, the Geologists of Jackson Hole presents earth science related speakers for across the US and around the world. We also lead field trips, outcrop-of–the-month and provide informative reports on interesting and thought provoking topics that help develop local understanding of the physical environment in which we live. The Geologists of Jackson Hole strive to explain the science behind earth science issues that effect and shape our community and our lives.
Specifically, your donations will allow us to enhance our ability to bring high quality, out-of-state speakers to our community and increase our in-school participation. Your donations will allow us to host public forums and special educational events such as day long or multi-day seminars. Even though we are an all-volunteer organization , transportation and communication costs are still a significant factor in our work, as is the cost of providing materials for our work with the local schools. Some of the enthusiastic responses from schools that have benefitted from our outreach can be found on the Education Experiences page.
Thank you in advance for your help in our work.
